The reason you haven't seen very many posts for breakfast foods on my blog is that we are not morning people. Getting up early for work is a challenge for me every day during the week, so I really look forward to sleeping in on Saturdays. When I saw this recipe for Overnight Pull-Apart Cinnamon Loaf in the April edition of Better Homes and Gardens magazine, I knew it was for me!
After reading some of the comments from other bakers, I agree that the milk should be increased to 1 cup to make the bread a little lighter.
I made the dough on Friday night, then let it rise in the refrigerator overnight. I rolled it out this morning, coated it with melted butter and cinnamon sugar, then layered the dough, sliced it, arranged it in a loaf pan for the second rising, then baked it. While the bread was baking, I made the simple glaze. The only change I made to the recipe was to add a few drops of Almond Extract to the glaze. This was pretty and fun to eat! It would be great to make for overnight guests.
Enjoy!

Cinnamon pull-apart breads are the best!! This looks delish.
ReplyDeleteAnd, I had 2 pieces of whole wheat toast this morning with a bowl of blueberries. The closest I got to cinnamon was to put a little, with some sugar and walnuts, on my toast. Life is not fair, Susan. Raising the bar a bit, I like to read good fiction/novels about places I have explored or am going to visit. Joseph Karon (who wrote The Good German") has a new fin de guerre thriller set in the postwar period of WW II (even though Turkey was a neutral teritory during the war) entitled "Istanbul Passage". It was reviewed this morning in the NYTimes, sounds good, think I'll read it. Since you've honeymooned in Turkey, perhaps you or your husband would enjoy it also.
ReplyDeleteNow THIS would be impossible to resists. I love that you can make it ahead and I can only imagine the aroma in the morning!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds perfect! I'm totally not a morning person either.
ReplyDeleteOh I'd like to tuck into this first thing in the morning!

I love make-ahead. And now I'm just imagining the aromas that waft through the house preparing you for such a lovely breakfast.
ReplyDeleteI don´t wake up late, but I can´t eat in the morning. So this would be perfect. And the smell of cinnamon baking!
ReplyDeleteOh, Susan, that cinnamon loaf looks to die for!! I am craving for it at the moment with my morning cup of coffee! Addition of the almond extract is very welcome too, love almond flavor! And the hummingbird is so sweet, nature is calling!:)
