Heartland Turtle Bars ~ Baked Sunday Mornings

Don't you just want to take a bite?
Cookie Crumb - and, yes, I could eat this just as it is!

This week's Baked Sunday Mornings challenge is for yummy Heartland Turtle Bars.  Although they're filled with gooey caramel and chocolate, the oat crumb and toasted pecans balance them out perfectly.  These bars are easy to make and would be perfect to take along to a potluck, or picnic.  We couldn't resist cutting into them before they had totally cooled, but they sliced much better the next day after resting in the fridge overnight.
Pouring the Caramel Sauce!

Baked Sunday Mornings is having a giveaway to celebrate the release of Baked Elements! Win a cool BAKED package of goodies including a Baked t-shirt, tote and packaged mixes (which are absolutely delicious), courtesy of Matt & Renato!

Earn an entry into the contest by baking and posting with us on September 16 - we're starting with the Brookster, from Baked Elements.

  2. Your Post photo says it all. There is nothing more to say about how delicious those bars look. A wonderful kick-off recipe for Baked Elements. It's getting a lot of kudos in the food blogging world already.

  3. I don't know if I like the filling or the oat crumb more - I think I need to try 1 or 2 so I can decide :).

  4. Susan, I love the photo of you pouring the caramel! This recipe has been one of my favorite Baked recipes yet! I agree that they are better when chilled. I may have to make another batch today!
