Baked Classic Pie Dough
Sawdust filling
This Classic Pie Dough is a dream to work with, It bakes up flaky and has a wonderful buttery taste. The sweet and chewy filling is made from sugar, graham cracker crumbs, chocolate, coconut, pecans and egg whites. It's not at all dry as the name implies. And, it's super simple to whip up - just put all the ingredients in a bowl, stir, and pour into the pie crust, then bake. That's it.

Fresh from the oven!
We served it while it was still warm ~ delightful!
Enjoy!

Looks great! I so wanted to use semi-sweet chocolate chips instead of white but went with them anyway. The filling reminded me of german chocolate frosting too!
ReplyDeleteSawdust pie, huh? It looks much better than its name would imply :-)
ReplyDeleteThat is one beautiful pie! Love it.

What a perfecty decadent pie!
ReplyDeletewell if someone had described it as german chocolate s'mores i would totally have tried it! it looks great!
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm. That name is interesting. I had never heard of this pie, ever. From the ingredients, it does sound delicious. But, it almost looks as if it is begging for whipped cream or cream fraiche or ice cream. But if that was the case, you would have plopped something on there. So maybe not. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI'm so envious ... That crust is gorgeous. Really, I know I should be staring at the pie but I can't take my eyes of the crust ... Excellent Job :-)
ReplyDeleteYour crust looks perfect. I agree, it's a dream to work with. And the pie, it certainly was unique!
ReplyDeleteThe crimping on your pie is gorgeous -- and I love the idea of subbing semi-sweet chocolate for the white chocolate. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteWonderful!! Love the photos..I thought the filling was so yucky looking but once cooked beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat looks so delicious! Great job, Susan!
ReplyDeleteThis is a "different" pie - in a good way! The filling sounds wonderful and your pie pretty - I can never get my crust to look so good. I like the name of it too. Have a great week Susan!
ReplyDeleteLove the name, the look, your description of the flavor, everything about this pie!
