| Rich malt and brown sugar cookie dough |
This week's Baked Sunday Mornings challenge is for these remarkable Malted Milk Sandwich Cookies. They are relatively simple to make and totally addictive. I was trying to think what they reminded me of - our niece, Chelsea, said her boyfriend, Frank, said they taste like vanilla ice cream!
Although these come together quickly, you do have to plan ahead to make them. I made the dough one night and half of the cookies the next day. As soon as we had eaten and given those away, I made the rest of them. One really nice thing about refrigerator cookies - they keep until you're ready to bake them.

I like soft cookies, so I went with the shorter baking time. We will definitely add these to our list of holiday cookies. They're just delicious - chewy malt cookies with rum and vanilla filling = YUM!

Enjoy!

Very pretty baking! We really liked these cookies...a fun new recipe. I'll have to check my calendar for September...it would be great to meet you and other blogging friends!!! Enjoyed your post and also loved seeing the pic of you and John with Mary...I think on Mary's blog.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I agree- these are totally adaptable to individual flavorings. We also loved them.
ReplyDeleteYou had me before I even got started ............ malted milk? One of my favorite flavors, ever! Love the way these cookies look and I have a feeling that we could go crazy over them.
ReplyDeleteI almost didn't make these since they were roll-and-cut cookies, which make me groan, but I'm glad I did because they were a lot easier than I'd expected and look impressive. Yours look lovely! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat pics. Love your easter bunny guardian protecting your lovely looking cookies.
ReplyDeleteYours are so beautiful. I love the cutter you used.

ReplyDeleteOh My- these cookies are just calling my name;-)
ReplyDeleteOh these cookies sound so wonderful…I love the flavor malted milk! Too bad Bill is on a diet!!
ReplyDeleteLove sandwich cookies and yours sound to die for, amazing recipe!
ReplyDeleteI loved these too-- they are among my all-time favorite cookies! :) I loved your flower cutter, Susan-- I used a fluted biscuit cutter, and the ridges had mostly disappeared once they were baked. The more pronounced scallops on your cutter worked better. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteOh, how pretty, Susan! I love malt and am sorry that I missed making these. I hope to get back on track with BAKED Sunday Mornings again.
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much for your comment. The IFBC Conference sounds wonderful. No, I am not on Facebook, but I would love to find out more and see who is going. It would be so great to meet you and everyone there!
