Creamy & Yummy! |
This week’s French Fridays with Dorie challenge is for Dressy Pasta “Risotto” which is really a French version of Macaroni and Cheese. We think of Macaroni and Cheese as being quintessentially American, so what makes it French? Well, of course, the cheese! This stove-top method will have you eating an irresistable version of Macaroni and Cheese in less than half an hour.
So easy to make! |
One of Dorie’s Bonne Idees is to shave truffles on top – I can only imagine how wonderful that would taste! But, we do have White Truffle Salt so used it to season the sauce. Despite the fact that this version of Macaroni and Cheese is made with cream, it’s lighter than the typical American version. You can find the recipe here and it’s really worth trying. It makes a wonderful side dish and would be fun to experiment with by adding leftover ham, tuna, peas, any number of add-ins for a main dish.
Splash! At Sycamore Cove Beach, near Malibu. (Yeah, I got wet, but it was worth it!) |

Ham & Peas – adding that to the list of ideas for this one. I wished I had truffles also, but I was a good girl this year and didn’t blow the holiday budget for truffles.
Gorgeous photo – that’s why we live in SoCal! Happy New Year!

Very true, this a bit like a French (or Italian?) mac-n-cheese. I didn’t even think of that. Delicious either way though.

Love the waves crashing onto the rocks! I didn’t think to use truffle salt but I bet that was delicious! Happy 2014 Susan!

Yum, wasn’t this fun ? I made it as a side dish for the leftover crown roast of pork I served on New Year’s Day. The kids ended up just eating bowls of it by itself. So simple, but so good. That shot of the waves was fabulous – great job !!

I wish I had truffles or even truffle salt! I used dried mushrooms instead but it tasted so good anyway!!
Michelle says
Looks great! I loved how quick and easy this was too 🙂
